So in my quest add more content to this blog, I’ve been trying out a few markdown editors. I know, I know…could totally do this in vim. But sometimes me and the mouse just get along and I want to navigate something that launches from the desktop.

With that said, I don’t do much work in Windows these days so my operating system of choice is Linux and MacOS simply because I have to use that for work sometimes.

So far on the mac, I’ve only used macdown.

It’s pretty nice. Still learning keyboard shortcuts and the interface is pretty minimal and stays out of the way. Learning markdown syntax will go a long way, that’s for sure!

Eitherway, it’s a nice tool for the jekyll blog. I’ll cover my linux editor of choice in the next day or so.

Things I like:

  • Free
  • Syntax Highlighting
  • Managed with brew: brew cask install macdown
